The conquering of slaves was no laughing matter. Many men and women were captured, and tortured their entire lives. Many children were born into slavery, and many were killed. Slaves were captured out of their villages, and had to watch their friends and family be murdered, just so that they could work on a plantation or another working site. This was known as the slave trade.
Americans were to be put on ships and brought to Africa. The men then would start going into villages and killing the weakest of the tribe, and leaving the strongest to walk with chains many miles until they got to the trading site. Many Africans submit to the capturing, and some revolted. They fought back and were killed, but it gave some slaves hope.
The men who fought back were always the bravest. They went up to them empty handed, and the men had either a knife, or gun.

In this picture, you see that the slaves decided to fight for their freedom, going in groups to protect each other.
These are slaves that have been captured, and are now working throughout the day on a plantation.
Slaves had to work all day, and had barely any time to rest for the morning. As soon as the crack of sun came through the sky, to when the sun went down, the men and women were cleaning, picking, and cooking for the men and women that owned them. Most slaves kept their head down and continued to work, while others tried to escape, or kill their owners.
The men and women who owned slaves were mostly hateful, and never appreciated the work that the slaves did for them. Most had whips, or other means of torture, but bottom line is, many slaves were beat, and whipped so much, that all their hope had disappeared.
