Slavery across the world is nothing short of horrible. Some slavery is still even going on today. Many men and women are still forced to work for nothing, and are beat if they don't. There are many places that have had slavery such as, South America, United States/British Colonies, Europe, and Central America.
In South America, slavery was a lot like that in America, though it started in 1492 when Christopher Colombus "found" America. It ended at about 1820. Many slaves were Portuguese instead of African, and they had the same amount of beating, whipping, and hunger. Many men and women suffered, and many children died from weakness. The work was about the same, having to work on plantations, and cook for their owners.
In the United States/British Colonies, the slavery was horrible. The slaves were captured from Africa and stuffed onto ships. The slaves died on the ships from disease, and exhaustion. Many men and women were stacked onto of each other in shelve like seats. They had to evacuate where they sat, and any fluids that came out of one, landed on another. When they got the United States, the slaves were sold to ruthless people who would beat and whip the slaves for no reason, sometimes it was for a reason, but not a very good one.
In Europe, slaves were to work in mines. Slavery started a very long time ago to where no one can pin point it. Slavery was a common practice in Europe, and Slaves were also forced to fight in wars, many died of disease, and some lived long enough to die of old age. Some slaves were in debt so it was more of an indenture. They worked for their debt, and when it was payed, they were let go. Some slaves were voluntary slaves. They wanted to help the slaves do their jobs, and just do it to be nice.
In Central America the slaves came from Africa, on a ship, just like the American slaves. The spaniards considered indian workers to be weak and unreliable. Whenever possible, the spaniards would buy the African slaves for their strength and good knowledge of farming and picking. The slavery differed from region to region in Central America, and many of the slaves did different jobs other than farming and cooking.
